UndaMeta Opens its Online Doors

We are thrilled to welcome you to our new platform, UndaMeta. 

We are a new and exciting African marketplace for African- inspired surface pattern design. We work together to create, market, and sell beautiful, ready-to-stitch custom fabric. Our in-house team and designers from across the region collaborate to design beautiful textile designs for you to wear lovely garments from this part of the world.

These young textile designers have something interesting to say about their technique and the inspiration for their designs. Largely drawn by hand and then redesigned on graphic applications, their creations are an authentic appreciation for our culture, aesthetic tastes, and African spirit. Their craft stands out as a proclamation that their work too should be counted amongst the rest that are celebrated from the East and West. This not only gives a global voice to their creativity and individuality but also contributes to the richness and diversity of Africa’s contemporary creative and cultural arts, specifically within the textile and fashion industry. 

UndaMeta is proud to be associated with pioneering designers from East, West, and Central Africa, with the goal of assisting them in spreading their talents far and beyond our borders. At the recently concluded UndaMeta Pattern Design Competition 2022/23, we already awarded four winners: Melissa Joe, Khaleel Makari, Iragi Rubabura, and Bello Zainab. This demonstrates our dedication to supporting the creative industry.

We have also collaborated with a few fabric manufacturers from within Kenya who will be producing high-end textiles that you can now use either for your individual project, for your clientele or for your business. We have stopped at nothing but to ensure that we only offer the very best quality fabrics from both poly-based, blends and natural fibres. This gives our audiences diverse options to choose from.

Malcolm X said once, ‘Tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today’. We believe in the power of positive change in the fashion industry. We work hard to ensure that these talented designers are compensated fairly for their services. We believe that our platform shines a light on so that they may be seen and celebrated. Most importantly, we believe that today’s fashion products can and must be sourced locally and sustainably.

To conclude, we would like to thank our partners, the AHSCE and the University of Nairobi, for giving us the opportunity; the experts we consulted for making us more knowledgeable about the industry.
