Description
The “My Kwando” pattern is inspired by the traditional Hausa kwando, meaning “basket”, a symbol of craftsmanship and cultural pride in northern Nigeria. Each basket features intricate geometric motifs that express the weaver’s creativity, skill, and heritage.
This design reinterprets that artistry into a contemporary textile narrative. Traditionally, a kwando is part of a bride’s wedding gifts, used to store grains and household essentials in her new home. My Kwando honours this tradition — celebrating the beauty, symbolism, and continuity of African craft through pattern design.
