Lee Wamae

Lee Wamae is a Visual Artist, Animator, Graphic Designer, Photographer and Illustrator based in Nairobi, Kenya. He creates Artistic works in the form of paintings and illustrations using patterns and techniques to tell visual stories. He believes in collaborating with different Artists to create the best artwork because collaboration creates strength. He is a member and co- founder of Revived Artists Collective. He has participated in community development projects, including Together at Home, which educates the public about COVID-19, Rangi za East, the Children’s Bill 2021, and painting murals at Children’s Homes and SIM Residency. This program taught children the art of painting and drawing. In the year 2021, he took part in creating an Illustration that was used to campaign and push a bill (Children’s Bill 2021) in parliament in collaboration with Mtoto News, Child Fund, World Vision, Joining Forces for All Children in Kenya, Save the Children, Terre des Hommes, and SOS Children’s Villages International. The bill was amended in parliament in January 2022 after 20 years. Lee has also taken part in art exhibitions such as the Affordable Art Exhibition, Kioko Art Gallery Exhibition, Nairobi Art Gallery Exhibition, Karen Country Club Exhibition, and Ubuntu Art Exhibition. Lee has exhibited in the Nairobi National Museum, Creativity Gallery. He has also participated in book illustrations such as “Trees” by Ellyanne Chlystun Wanjiku Githae, a Climate Finance and Biodiversity Champion. He has also collaborated with NGOs such as UNICEF and Terre des Hommes, creating illustrations for children's books. He has also taken part in Artist Talks in University of Nairobi Department of Art and Design with Master's students. (Post Graduates) He has done photography for the Executive arm of government, the Ministry of Tourism, for the Cabinet Secretary.
